Is Google challenging Apple on human interface
John Gruber discusses a review comparing Google’s new Chromebook Pixel with MacBooks. The original review by Ian Betteridge provides a balanced, positive, review from a Mac enthusiast. Gruber makes an insightful conclusion:
the Chromebook Pixel seems like another bit of evidence that Google is getting better at what Apple does best faster than Apple is getting better at what Google does best.
Apple’s giant strides in its own apps and web servers are long overdue and sorely needed.
This “warning shot” may be (intentionally or not) aimed toward Jony Ive, Apple’s industrial design guru. Having inherited responsibility for Human Interface software design across Apple, Google may be throwing down a challenge to Ive and Apple.
